Chat
Chat allows you to communicate by typing during a meeting. You can choose which participants see your Chat message.

Directory server
A server on the Internet or intranet that displays a list of the people who are registered at that moment. To call people using NetMeeting, you can click their name in the directory list.

Distributed meeting hosts
When you are hosting a meeting across a wide area network (WAN), you can have a site host at each geographical location. For optimal performance in these situations, participants connect to the distributed host at their location, and then the distributed hosts connect to the main host.

File transfer
Allows you to transfer files to other meeting participants.

ILS server
(see directory server)

Meeting host
The person who has scheduled the meeting. Participants join a meeting by connecting to the host.

Participant
Anyone who participates in the meeting, but is not the host.

Sharing
Allowing people to see a program on your computer. To share a program, click the Share Program button and then select the program from the list in the Sharing dialog box. Once you do this, everyone in the meeting will be able to see the program, as well as any changes that you are making. You must have the program running to share it.

WAN connection
Unlike a local area network (LAN) connection, a wide area network connection connects two or more computers that are geographically separated. WAN connections are typically much slower than LAN connections (56k is common) so it is important to minimize the number of connections over the WAN if you want reasonable performance in your online meeting.

Whispering
If you are using Chat in your meeting, you can talk to one participant by choosing their name in the Send To box at the bottom of the Chat window.

Whiteboard
Using Whiteboard, you can draw, erase objects, point out objects and more. It's like sharing a Paint window, but far more efficient, as it includes specific options customized for interactive communication.
